Benjamin Perez was shot and orphaned on Dec. 22, 1997 in Acteal, a tiny village in Chiapas. 45 people, most of them women and children were executed. The PRI, a corrupt party that just oozed it’s way back into power in Mexico, was responsible. This picture was made Dec. 24th 1997 in a hospital in San Cristobal de las Casas.  A neighbor and her child on left, Benjamin’s grandfather is on right. This picture is available for licensing via Corbis.
Acteal, no se olvida.
